Livin' on a prayer, and certainly a heck of a lot better than Latin J-Lo noche, the six remaining Idols belted out their best Jersey boiler room rock and roll.
I believe Jon Bon Jovi is an underused and underrated talent, he can act, he still looks great, and he can sing the crap out of a power ballad.
Ryan Seacrest announced that last week's charity Idol Gives Back raised well over the first predicted $40 million.
Jon told the contestants that his kids loved the show, and that he liked the authenticity.
Let's discuss:
Phil Stacey sang "Blaze of Glory." He did great, vocals were on, and his performance was perfect. Randy said it was the bomb. Paula Abdul thought it was the best opening all season long. Simon Cowell "didn't hear any authenticity."
Jordin Sparks
Talk about making everyone feel old... Jordin's MOM grew up on Bon Jovi. To complete the part, Jordin was rockin' some Jersey girl hair tonight. Unfortunately, she was not rockin' the Jersey voice. This was my least favorite Jordin performance. Maybe she is not the supergirl I was hoping for, but I am going to let it slide since it's Bon Jovi.LaKisha Jones
LaKisha had previously seen Bon Jovi on Oprah. How thrilled he must have been. LaKisha was smart with her selection, picking "This Ain't a Love Song." Her voice handled it very well, but I thought the song itself was just kind of cheesy. She did move Simon to a borderline makeout session, so it couldn't have been all bad. I am not a big Bon Jovi fan, but I do think they manage to make their songs work well. It doesn't mean others can work the same magic.
